Web Analytics Australia – 14/5/08

Slim pickins’ today for all alerts, but this was a decent article with a few tricks that I’ve actually been using for a while.
Will Longer Keyphrases Hinder the Effectiveness of Your Copy?
I love that he specifically points out the spanning of two sentences for the targeted keyword as search engines ignore punctuation. Then, the phrase "Search Engine Optimisation Perth" can turn into "…use Search Engine Optimisation. Perth web firms have always…"
Nice, because then you’ve got the exact phrase on your page and the copy still remains readable and relevant for the user.

Web Marketing Australia – 14/5/08

It seems that the theme for "Web Marketing" today is music. Not sure why, but there must be something in the air.
[TUNE-OUT.com] A response to “Australian Music In Tune”
This is actually an e-buddy of mine, Nathanael Boehm, who goes by PureCaffeine where I know him. He’s got something about the music industry and a petition I think. Check the rest of his blog out though, he’s a classic.
List Of DoFollow Forums For Backlinks
I’ve seen folks out there who post to forums really for no other reason than the backlinks. I sometimes call them names and start threadwars, but then when I tell them that the forum they’re on uses "nofollow" they never come back.
Much like my motto of "Have a Good Website", you should also "Be Good on the Forums" and not attempt to use them for that kind of thing. It accomplishes nothing in the long run and really only hurts Teh Interwebs.

Web Marketing Perth – 14/5/08
Posted on May 14, 2008 by Jexley
This alert served up absolutely nothing relevant or contextual, yet something that was incredibly noteworthy anyway.
For Love Not Money
I’ve never been much of a "music guy". You know the kind, constantly downloading and blogging about their favourite bands, tend to be a bit snobby and NEVER like anything that’s played on the radio to the unwashed masses. I’m not really any of those things, so I get excited when I happen upon someone whose music I genuinely like and I didn’t have to do anything to find them (like put up with endlessly interrupting radio ads or campy DJs).
So, Dave Anderson, from Perth. He plays guitar and he sings and he’s good and he’s got nothing to do with Web Marketing in Perth.

Internet Marketing – 13/5/08

More of the same from other countries and unrelated topics, but at least it’s entertaining. I’M entertained.
Unique Ways Of Internet Marketing
Unique? Is the complete and utter lack of plurals unique enough for you? I mean "utter lack of plural" though, isn’t that right?
I hack on this one, but the message is pretty good, and I can’t speak any other languages successfully unless I’m either asking you what you’re drinking in Filipino or if you just farted in Spanish.
New Breakthrough System Simplifies the Product Launch Process
I plan on using PR and Article sites to pimp my company whenever I launch something new too. Nice.
Use Online Marketing Effectively To Make Money On The Internet
These guys are starting to look (and sound) familiar. Another example of what can, on the surface, seem like a nice article built to help YOU out, though is probably just a marketing technique engineered with nothing but Search Engines in mind.
Tough call, and I don’t want to sound too incredibly hypocritical, so I’ll stop now.
Affiliate Marketing Opportunities
This guy is also sounding familiar. I think I mentioned "Snake Oil Salesmen" the last time I linked to his stuff. I’ll say it again then, Snake Oil Salesman.

Phrases like this one tend to get more of the "catch-alls", but you can still find interesting things in them regardless.
eBay going PayPal only?
Not necessarily pertinent to the subject of this alert, but still VERY interesting news. I use eBay, I LOVE eBay, I don’t know how I’d feel if they made me do anything though. Bit Microsoftish of them, if you ask me.
5 Important concepts of web development
Nice concept, but this is an example of what happens when I try to do a "How To" or a "Guide To" without having someone edit it. I get WAY too technical and obscure and make very little sense to anyone who isn’t… well… ME basically. Forget the layperson, there are times that you’d have to literally in my head to understand what I’ve written. Or grab a cuppa and settle in.
